Courtney Dauwalter is the reigning queen of ultrarunning. She dominates just about every race she enters, and she does it with a loud and fun style. The new Salomon S/Lab Ultra 3 Limited Edition celebrates Dauwalter’s performance at the 2021 Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc, where she not only won the women’s race in record time, but finished in the top 10 overall, too.
The shoe is decked out in drawings inspired by that race—classic French croissants, raised hands of all the runners at the start of the massive 100-mile race, and words of motivation to help pick up the pace on race day. Underneath is a loud rainbow outsole that screams of Dauwalter's fun attitude while racing.
For racing on technical mountain terrain, this edition of the shoe gets a more rugged upper mesh material. While Salomon states this upper breathes less than the mesh on the standard-issue S/Lab Ultra 3, it certainly provides more protection against rocks and debris.
More From Runner's World

The S/Lab Ultra 3 has been a go-to for long distance trail running, with a great balance of comfort and speed over mixed trails. It’s certainly not the softest shoe on the market, but it’s plenty accommodating for long days on the trail—and our testers have proven the shoe in trail races up to 200 miles without any foot issues. We especially like the soft, sock-like ankle collar, that helps keep dirt and rocks from getting in the shoe.
The S/Lab Ultra 3 Limited Edition is available now for $200 at salomon.com. If this limited edition isn't your style, you can still pick up the classic colorway for $180.
