If you've been saving up all year to get your hands on a cheap running watch, a massage gun or pair of carbon plate race shoes – or you've got a whole family (or friendship group) of runners to shop for this Christmas – Black Friday is the best time of year to grab a bargain.
It's one of the biggest sales events of the year, but while previously we'd be prepared for savings to kick off in November, nowadays you can bag a deal as early as October. With just over two months before things get properly underway, here's everything you need to know about this year's event.
When is Black Friday 2023?
Black Friday always falls on the last weekend of November, the day after Thanksgiving in the US. This year, Black Friday is on Friday 24 November, so mark it in your calendars and get ready to save.
However, most brands will begin dropping their deals in the days and weeks prior, so we'll be updating this page with all the best offers we've spotted during this period.
When is Cyber Monday 2023?
Black Friday deals tend to extend over the entire weekend, culminating with Cyber Monday. This year, Cyber Monday falls on Monday 27 November.
What is the difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
Traditionally, Black Friday deals were both online and in shops, whereas Cyber Monday deals just happened online. Other than that, there's not a lot of difference between the two, however some retailers will only focus on one of the days, so if you've got anything particular in mind, it's worth keeping an eye on both.
Black Friday health and fitness deals – what to expect this year
A number of our favourite sports brands slash their prices around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, including Nike, Sweaty Betty, Lululemon and Decathlon.
Here are some of the best items we've seen discounted in previous years that are worth keeping an eye on in the build up to Black Friday 2023. As the event draws nearer, we'll be updating this page with more deals.
A truly thoroughbred race shoe – and the one to buy if you have Kipchoghe levels of expectation from your shoes, the Alphafly boasts impressive energy return, cushioning and even less weight than its predecessor. Last year saw some big discounts on the super shoe, and we expect to see the same this year.
We reviewed the KIPRUN GPS 500 last year and found very little to fault about this running watch. In last year's sale, it dipped under £100, making it a fantastic watch for beginners and experienced runners alike.
A great watch at an affordable price, the Garmin 245 has all the essential running features, including suggested workouts, adaptive training plans and feedback on-the-run. The Garmin 245 also has new safety and tracking features, including the ability to send your current location to a trusted person while you are on the run. You can also track your 'body battery' and menstrual cycle in addition to the normal stuff: running data and training load.
Garmin's flagship GPS watch doesn't go on sale often, but last year it saw a hefty discount for Black Friday. The Fenix 7 boasts a bigger battery life, improved solar charging, colour touchscreen and colour TOPO maps with all the usual features like suggested workouts, training effects and load feedback, sleep tracking, phone-free music playback and more. It really is the best of the best.

Beats by Dr. Dre Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earphones
These RW-lab-approved headphones are worth every penny. The punchy bass is great for pacing and their adjustable hooks fit around the ear to make sure they stay in place throughout any workout. Despite having a bulkier design than most, courtesy of the aforementioned hooks, we found them supremely comfortable to wear. As they’re manufactured by Apple, they’re definitely best-suited to iPhone users, with the ability to summon Siri and display their battery on your mobile’s home screen. We were also big fans of the magnetic charging case, which boosts the total battery life up to 24 hours.
There’s no doubt about it, UK brand Runderwear know a thing or two about anti-chafing. These cushioned ankle socks give you extra protection where your foot needs it most, which will come in handy over 26.2 miles. Made from breathable fabrics, the mid-foot grips to hold the sock in place and the high tab on the back protects against blisters.
Sometimes, when the weather is biblical and the desire/need to run is there, you have to arm yourself with the kit that'll keep you out there as long as you want and these waterproof running trousers are just those things.
Waterproof to 10,000 Schmerber and featuring taped seam, these are a very useful bit of kit for those out all day on the road or trails and they pack away too.
Featuring a hook and eye closure and soft, adjustable straps – this sports bra is the dream. The smooth, sweat-wicking band sits just under the bust and offers medium-level support (great for B-C cups) while the cored-out padding swaps bulk for breathability.
This jacket caught our testers’ attention for the very neat way it can be packed into a little over-the-shoulder bag. It kept everyone dry in light rain, though the water-repellant coating kept water on the surface, making our runners feel a little cold. Though there’s plenty of room to wear layers underneath. Ideal for spring training.
